In light of the upcoming presidential run-off elections in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) is seeking individuals interested in volunteering as International Election Observers. As in previous years, the UCCA will be actively participating in Ukraine's electoral process by hosting a delegation of International Election Observers to monitor the February 7, 2010 run-off elections.
To become a member of the UCCA’s International Observer Mission, volunteers must hold citizenship in a country other than Ukraine, and be willing to dedicate roughly one week to the program, as observer teams will be deployed to various regions throughout Ukraine in order to cover as many oblasts as possible.
To apply to serve as a member of the UCCA's Delegation of International Election Observers, please complete the Run-Off Election Observer Application form , which is listed under the "Observer Items" section of this page. In addition to submitting a completed application form, interested individual MUST provide a copy of the page of their passport where your name is listed and your photo appears. As the CEC is only accepting applications until January 29th, all applications and copies of passport page MUST BE SUBMITED NO LATER THAN CLOSE OF BUSINESS (5PM EST) ON JANUARY 28th! If have you already been registered by the CEC for the first round of elections on January 17th, you accreditation is valid for the February 7th run-off election.
International Election Observers play a vital role in enhancing the transparency of the election process. Therefore, the UCCA is seeking individuals to serve as members of the UCCA International Election Observer Mission. The UCCA will provide all volunteers official accreditation from Ukraine’s Central Election Commission, extensive training to familiarize observers with all the laws and regulations related to the election process, as well as in-country travel and lodging coordination. However, all expenses related to travel, food and lodging must be borne by the volunteers themselves.
The UCCA has been hosting delegations of International Election Observers to monitor Ukraine’s presidential and parliamentary elections since 1994. In 2004, the UCCA’s delegation, which numbered over 2,400 individuals, was the largest delegation ever registered by Ukraine’s Central Election Commission.
