On November 25, 2018, the Russian Federation deliberately attacked three unarmed Ukrainian Naval vessels, seized the ships and illegally captured all 24 Ukrainian sailors on board. This outrageous violation of a sovereign State’s right of innocent passage - impeding Ukraine’s lawful transit through the Kerch Strait – is the latest brazen violation of international law by Russia’s criminal regime.
In addition to taking every available measure to secure their immediate release, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), the largest representative organization of the over 1.5 million Americans of Ukrainian descent, is urging our community to support “FreeUkrainePOWs,” the international campaign launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Supporters should share their activism with others through social media, using the following hashtags:
Additionally, during this Christmas season, join UCCA in letting those illegally detained, brave sailors – now moved to Stalin’s favorite prison in Moscow - that we have not forgotten about them, and that the Ukrainian American community is doing all that we can in support of them.

Це обурливе порушення суверенної держави її права безневинні проходу – що перешкоджає Україні законний транзит через Керченську протоку — це останнє нахабне порушення міжнародного права вчинене російським злочинним режимом. На додаток до вживання усіх можливих заходів, щодо їх негайного звільнення, Український Конґресовий Комітет Америки (УККА), найбільша організація, що представляє понад 1,5 мільйона американців українського походження, закликає нашу громаду, підтримати "FreeUkrainePOWs," міжнародну кампанію, розпочату Міністерством Закордонних Справ України.
